Youth

Youth offerings at Holy Family are for 6th-12th graders and aim to help our youth receive the love of Christ, hear Christ’s call for their lives, and respond to both.

Confirmation

High School students are invited to pursue Confirmation through our class called Youth Journey in Faith (yJIF) which meets on Sunday mornings, September-April, from 10:15-11:15.   yJIf also shares a meal together monthly and serves together in our community.  Confirmation happens each Spring when the Bishop visits.

Episcopal Youth Community

Holy Family’s youth program is called “EYC,” standing for Episcopal Youth Community, because this is exactly what we strive to be!  Youth in grades 6-12 gather weekly and monthly with adult mentors for a variety of programs and retreats.  Come share in our common life together!

Jr. and Sr. EYC
EYC logo draftOn Sunday evenings, 6th-8th graders gather from 5-7 pm for Jr. EYC and 9th-12th graders gather from 6-8 pm for Sr. EYC.  We play, pray, eat, worship, share our lives with one another, and talk about what we need to talk about.  There’s always room at the dinner table, so come on out and join us.

Girls and Guys Groups
High school youth and mentors meet periodically throughout the month somewhere beyond Holy Family’s walls for Girls and Guys Groups.  Gathered around a kitchen table or a fire pit, on a boat or in a forest, these groups offer youth and mentors a smaller and more personal opportunity to connect.  Occasionally, middle school youth are invited to come.

Special Events, Weekend Retreats, and Outreach
We have an number of extraodinary events and traditions scattered throughout the year: Lock-ins, Beach Trips, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, and a variety of trips out into our community to meet and serve alongside our neighbors.  We also regularly participate in North Carolina Diocesan Youth Events and have recently begun participating in Appalachia Service Projects.

Stay in loop!
