VINI AYITI! Come to Haiti!

The next mission trip to visit our partner school in Molas, Haiti is May 25-29, 2017. Medical expertise is welcome but not required. In fact, we would love to include travelers who want to interact with the school children in an educational, Bible study, or art or music capacity. Mature youth are also welcome. Don’t let the cost (roughly $900) stop you – there is assistance! Booking the flights is the trickiest part of the preparation so please talk to Diane Steinhaus ( as soon as possible if you are interested in going.

CROP Hunger Walk

Join a community wide event to help feed hungry people locally and around the world. CROP Hunger Walk 2017 will take place on April 23 at 2:30. This 3.7 mile walk through the streets of Carrboro, Chapel Hill, and the UNC campus is a fun and friendly way to raise funds and build awareness. There are several ways to help. Become a walker, sponsor a walker, donate online or volunteer to assist with “day of the walk” needs ( Help us reach our Parish goal of 40 walkers and $4,000 raised. Palm Sunday Intergenerational Event

Join us for an intergenerational event at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall and Library. We will fold palm fronds into crosses and enjoy other activities that help us remember Jesus’ journey into Jerusalem. Families are invited to take a Holy Week Poster to be completed at home during the rest of the week. Also during this time, adults and children are invited to walk a set of interactive Stations which are based on the Scriptural Way of the Cross.

Outdoor Workday

Outdoor workday is planned for April 8th, and it will be held from 8:00-10:00 a.m. because of two funerals that will be held later in the day, the earliest one at 11:00 am. We will clean and beautify the grounds, place plants, and water as needed in preparation for the Palm Sunday and Easter services during the following two weeks. Join us at 8:30-9:00 a.m. if that fits your schedule better.

Mid-week Eucharist

We will celebrate Holy Eucharist with healing prayers on Thursday, April 6, at 12:00 noon in the Nave.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the first Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is Wednesday, April 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, in the Gallery Classroom.

Children’s Lenten Study

Children’s Lenten Study Programming will meet in the Commons for ages 4-10 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Children over 10 can gather in a classroom in the Commons set up for homework or to play board games. To request nursery care for children under 4, please complete the form on the children’s page of Holy Family’s website under the heading “Parish Nursery”. All are invited to come ahead of time to join in Evening Prayer at 5:30 p.m. and Soup Supper in the Parish Hall at 5:50 p.m.

Lenten Series

Wednesday evenings in Lent, 6:30-7:30 p.m., our Lenten program Christ Before the Powers: how does sin shape the world? Wednesday, April 5: The Rev. Hugh Hollowell, Pastor, Love Wins Ministries–Hugh, a Mennonite pastor, was first hired to serve as a pastor on the street in downtown Raleigh. Love Wins Ministries, a ministry of presence and pastoral care for the homeless and at-risk population, grew out of the relationships he formed with the people he met. Hugh will be with us to talk about building Christ-centered community as a response to the powers.

Canonical Crime Squad

Join the Canonical Crime Squad for “The Bishop’s Brood” by Simon Beaufort. Sir Geoffrey Mappestone and Sir Roger of Durham are eager to get back to the Holy Land to resume their crusading and pillaging, but are delayed when Bishop Flambard of Durham, on the run from the king’s men, asks his son to deliver part of a map to a hidden treasure. Flambard doesn’t mention the number of deaths already connected with the treasure; will Geoffrey and Roger become two more notches on the tally stick?
